About Us

Your Ashland County Red Cross is disaster relief, service to the armed forces, and teaching a child how to swim and be water safe. It is teaching people what to do in a life threatening emergency. It is serving fairgoers, nursing a community back to health and giving life-saving blood. It is all of this and more. Every deed of kindness along the way is one more victory in the battle against pain and misery. No task is too small if it helps a neighbor. No task is so great that we will not try to raise the conscience of the world to serve mankind.

More important than any of this, your Red Cross is people, the school teacher, the man who owns the hardware store, the stenographer in the real estate office, the teller at the bank, the firefighter, the nurse in the local doctor’s office, the woman who owns the dress shop, the boy who delivers your newspaper, the minister, the carpenter down the street, the computer programmer, the local disc jockey, the homemaker, the little league coach, the grocer, and the Sunday School teacher. People in your neighborhood, people in your community. People just like you.

In peace and in war, the Red Cross is dedicated to preventing distress and guarding human life. Our work is unending, going on day and night, in every corner of every state, in every territory that lies under the American flag. The Red Cross story is always warmly human: It is the story of people helping people.
